GFI Connect
Take advantage of our experience in analysing your installation processes with you: we'll then suggest and design new/bespoke connectivity solutions that will reduce your costs on every install...
GFI Connect - Bespoke Design and Manufacturing Service: GFI’s specialist division – GFI Connect – provides a bespoke design and manufacturing service to corporates and other large customers in the Telecommunications, Satellite Broadcasting and Security Alarm industries. Click here to read a typical case study describing how GFI Connect harnesses the design and manufacturing skills of its UK and China-based teams to provide innovative class-leading solutions to service providers.
Typical GFI Connect design process: Ideally GFI will conduct all four stages shown below;
however we can agree any scope of work depending on our client’s specific requirements. We work collaboratively with our clients, becoming an extension of our client’s teams, but also offering our own unique insights, based on the GFI team’s diverse range of technical and manufacturing knowledge and practical field/installation experience.
Here is a more detailed chart showing what we might typically cover at each stage of the bespoke product development cycle:

Bespoke Product Design/Development Process
Stage 1 |
Conception/Idea |
Collaborating with our client to understand the issues, the customer requirements, the functional requirements and any technical specifications/regulations. Jointly consider innovative solutions, (if necessary - conduct research and analyse options). Understand the project budget, the opportunities to reduce costs, as well as any project constraints. Deliverable: Design brief with design costs and ball-park manufacturing budget signed off by GFI’s client. |
Stage 2 |
Design |
An iterative stage using top-down and bottom-up approaches together in which we create and test, analyse and validate prototypes, finalise CAD designs, source of additional components, and quote final manufacturing costs. |
Stage 3 |
Realisation/Manufacture |
Design and production of tooling for manufacture, procurement of additional components. Test production samples against agreed specifications. Finalise product documentation. |
Stage 4 |
Service |
Support client in the warehousing, supply and delivery, training, use, operation and maintenance of the product. Receive feedback for future product improvements and/or enhancements. Monitor product performance against agreed specification. |
